About me

Louisa Reynolds

WMCI - Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor
BMG Summer Rock Guide and Trainee Mountain Guide
BASI Alpine Level 2 Ski Instructor

I am a Mountaineering, Climbing and Skiing Instructor based in the central highlands of Scotland, though originally from Devon. My love for the mountains was inspired from skiing in the Alps as a child, which quickly grew to climbing and mountaineering aspirations.
I studied Outdoor Education at South Devon College, before moving to Scotland for an Apprenticeship based in the central highlands of Scotland, where I attained qualifications in both land and water based activities. Following this I became self employed and worked as Freelance Rock Climbing Instructor in Devon and in Scotland, enabling me to choose work country wide and work for a variety of different companies.

This winter (2019) will be my 5th winter as a fully qualified Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (WMCI). I am now also a Trainee British Mountain Guide and having completed my summer assessment I am now a British Rock Climbing Guide. My work extends across the UK, from Devon and Cornwall, North Wales and right up into the North of Scotland. My furthest North Guiding work culminated in The Old Man of Hoy on Orkney this summer 2019.

I specialise in teaching mountaineering and climbing techniques in summer and winter as well as guiding rock, ice and mixed climbing. When teaching and coaching I thrive on watching clients develop their skills set and feel more self suffience and confident to go out and do these activities on their own. As a Climbing or Mountaineering Guide I love to give people experiences that they would not be able to achieve on their own, perhaps making long term dreams come true and opening their horizons. Through all my mountaineering courses I endevour to create a comfortable, fun and client centred experience choosing the best locations and objectives to suit both the group/individual and the conditions/weather.

I am a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) ,  British Mountain Guides (BMG) and the British Association of Skiing Instructors (BASI) which provide me with insurance as well as contiunous proffesssional development.

I am passionate about the mountains, not just as a place for work. I will regularly be out and about in the UK and abroad climbing, skiing and mountaineering. To have a look at what I have been up to recently or find out about conditions please visit my blog.
